Pablo Picasso

PABLO PICASSO
Pablo Picasso was born on 25th of October 1881 in Malada and lived for 92 years, quite a long time. His father was an art teacher and a good drawer so he quickly discovered his son's big talent and started to push him to go to an art school.

Not all people know how good he actually was. Most of them look at his cubist paintings (like Guernica and Women from Avignon) and wonder why it's so famous and what is genius in them. For some people they look like paintings made by children from kindergarten. But at the beginning of his career he was a naturalistic painter. Here are some of his works from that time. Guess what, he painted “The old fisherman” when he was only 14.

In 1900 Pablo and his friend Carlos Casagemasa moved to France to continue art education. There his friend committed suicide. After that Pablo was devastated and in mourning. He started  his "blue period" (1901-1903) to express his grief. In this specific time he painted essentially monochromatic paintings usually in shades of blue and blue-grey.

"The old guitarist" 1903                                                              "La Vie"
"La Vie" (Life) is a final painting from the blue period. He cures from the trauma and closes the period.

In 1904 he starts short rose period (lasts only to 1905) which is now the most admired  and  paintings from it are the most expensive from the whole Picasso’s masterpieces  collection. The name of this time came from Picasso’s heavy use of pink tones in his works.

In 1905 Picasso paints his first "cubist" painting. It’s the portrait of Gertrude Stein in which he simplifies geometrically her face. Gertrude was in this time a famous patron of art.

In 1907 he visited an exhibition of postimpressionist artists where he saw Cezanne's works. Inspired by that he paints "Les demoiselles d'Avignon" which officially starts cubist period in his art.

I decided to stop here. I thought that it could be quite interesting if I'd just write about how Pablo Picasso came to the cubist style. Because his earlier paintings aren't so famous as the cubist and surrealistic ones but they are also amazing and valuable for me. Maybe I'll continue the plot in the next posts, I haven't decided yet.
All in all, I really appreciate the artist because not only was he great because of his skills of the craft but also he kind of created his own way to express himself and to  transform reality. I also draw a little and for me it's really hard to move from what I see to something different and still looking good.

Living off the land of Hawaii

Nowadays we're dependent on big industries and I think that it's a problem. Usually we have to buy food that shops provides us but it's getting less healthy because it's mass grown and polluted by dangerous chemicals. Whereas, if it's organic, it's usually more expensive. This video shows that there're still people who provides food for themselves by hunting or growing it. For some it may seem primitive but I think that it's better for the environment, healthier for us and also cheapier. words: remote place, descendant, self-sufficiency People usually don't live in remote areas. Children aren't self-suffient because they're dependent on their parents. After king's death his descendant inherits the crown. . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJXEepvG6Hc&pbjreload=10

Guernica

GUERNICA As a conclusion of the topic about Picasso I decided to write about Guernica. It's a painting which Pablo painted in 1937 and now it's known at the global scale. It's probably one of the most famous paintings of Picasso. It is 349 cm high and 776 cm wide, so it's more like a mural painting but it's not on the wall but on a huge canvas. The whole process of creating was documented by a photographer who he dated then, Dora Maar. It can be know admired in the National Museum of Art in Madrid with her photos. The history of the masterpiece refers to the bomb that was dropped at a village in the North of Spain, Guernica. It caused a lot of damage including killing many civils. This was actually the first time when the artist painted something as a reaction to a political problem. Guernica shows the tragedy of war and suffering of the innocent. We can see there,...

Is it possible to live plastic free?

Our society has a serious problem with plastic consumption. We use so much of it that we can't deal without it. The video showed how a man challenged himself to live plastic free for a month. It wasn’t easy because nowadays most of food products are wrapped in plastic. There is also a problem with expenses because usually eco food is more expensive but sometimes it's cheaper e.g. buying coffee in your own reusable cup gives you discount. I think that regardless of the difficulty we should try to use less plastic to protect the environment but probably it's not possible to live completely free of it. words: penalty, incentive, to throw oneself into sth I threw myself into that work and couldn't stop doing it. Some people think death penalty should be legalised Kids sometimes needs an  incentiv e to eat food they don't like. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QC9TYktAWfM
